My name is Jennifer Whalen, and I have the honor of serving as the principal of Battle Academy. For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of this extraordinary school—and as both an educator and a parent of Battle students, I can confidently say there’s no place I’d rather be.

Located in the heart of Southside Chattanooga, Battle is a vibrant magnet school where learning comes alive. Our educational philosophy is inspired by Dr. Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. We believe there are many ways to be “smart,” and that every student possesses unique strengths and untapped potential. At Battle, we are dedicated to helping each child discover and develop their individual gifts and talents, nurturing them to grow into well-rounded, independent learners.
As a TN STEAM designation school, Battle is full of energy, creativity, and hands-on learning. Our students regularly engage in experiential activities that make learning meaningful and memorable.
